FOUR LETTER WORD
I have four letters for you.
P.C.O.S
Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome.
Or, if you're a male--Metabolic Syndrome.
I went to the reproductive endocrinologist today. In September, just a few weeks before getting pregnant, they did an ultrasound that confirmed that along with my thinning hair, high lipid panel, tendency for high BP, belly fat, thinning hair (yes I know I already said that!), I have poly-cystic ovaries.
Sure, my cycle is like clockwork. Sure, I got pregnant, twice. BUT, my dear readers, my left ovary is EVIL. It malfunctions and over produces hormones that send my body into a frenzy. And, because of that ovary, I gain weight, feel crappy and lose my hair when eating carbs,
And because of that ovary, Ideal Protein was the BEST THING FOR ME. The PCOS diet is a LOW CARB, HIGH PROTEIN diet.
I have never felt so relieved and so frustrated all at once in my life.
A few years ago, Dr, Lotkowski, my PCP at the time, told me that my androgen levels were fine. I was on birth control--they would be fine on birth control unless I had tumors on my adrenal glands. I will be having my androgen levels checked by Dr. Kuzbari this week.
So, another justification as to why IP worked for me.
