Disappearing Act

Today I wore an outfit I've worn many times before in the last two months.

It's comfortable, I feel confident in it and I like it.

Thirty minutes into my day I was walking up the hallway and I heard someone call me by my full first name...

"Anne-Marie!"

I spun around.

It was a manager from another department--someone I've spoken with before about exercise and getting in shape--but I haven't seen him in months.

"I didn't recognize you! You've lose a whole person!"

I laughed. I've heard this expression before and know it's just a dramatic way of saying I look like I lost a lot of weight.  And I'm cool with it.  Technically, I did...toddlers are people too!  And I'm down almost 27lbs.

We walked together as he asked me about the baby and the family and I told him that I was trying to lose the baby weight and get back into shape and was planning to run a 5k and 10k in November.  He mentioned it was good to have goals and said that my efforts were visibly obvious.

I walked away with a spring in my step and a smile on my face and it set the tone for the rest of my day.

But it puzzles me--why now?  I haven't lost much weight in the last two weeks so why are people saying something now?  Maybe it's the outfit--but I've worn it before.  Maybe my weight has redistributed and I'm more toned.  Who knows...but it was a great start to my day.

me, today!
In other news, I ran two 8 minute runs today.  I did this on Sunday too but I wanted to do it again before my next run--a 20 minute run.  No stopping.
...after my run...in my new shirt LOL
