I Heart Exercise

I have this Tervis tumbler cup that says "You're only one workout away from a better mood".  (OK it doesn't literally say that...it's not a talking cup.  That would be creepy.  And annoying.  But mostly creepy).

One workout = better mood. Seriously, how annoyingly true is that?

As I have moved through the last few months of change, I have noticed how profoundly different I feel since making exercise a consistent part of my life.

My Facebook and Instagram are filled with daily pictures of my ridiculous post work out selfies that started as a way to motivate myself to workout--take a silly selfie and post it...keeping myself accountable to...the internet?  It turns out I had a few friends who were inspired by my changes and have made adjustments to their own lifestyles...and now it's just fun to post.

...and it's amazing how many people start talking to you about how they use exercise as "therapy" or "me time"...or how many conversations start because of an exercise post.

And we all groan "Ughhhhh I need more energy, I'm always tired, I should really work out but I don't want to!"

But if you push passed that, you find yourself on the other side of that exhaustion in some kind of weird euphoric state...or "a better mood".

I drove back to work after an off site meeting just to go to HIIT class today.  #NoExcuses

And I find myself having conversations with my friends like "Ugh this day stinks, I can wait to run this out in the gym" or they'll say "Go run it out" and I'll snap back a selfie from the treadmill...I never thought I would be that person but I've become her and I like it.  I miss exercise when I'm not able to get in a good run!  I REALLY miss it!  I get all funky and tired and antsy.  I even have a vacation coming up and already made sure I have access to a gym while I'm gone.

So if you find yourself sitting at your desk or on your couch and you're feeling kinda bummed and tired, get up and move...get the blood flowing and your heart pumping.  You're only one workout away from a better mood. (wink)
