The Best Laid Plans...
And just like that, the weekend takes another turn...
Nothing bad but on Saturday I did not anticipate my Sunday working out the way it did...
We were set to go to Longwood Gardens. My request for Mother's Day was to go there, take some pictures of me and Olivia together and work on my photography by capturing some beautiful flowers and landscapes.
We were running behind but without any restrictions on our day I wasn't concerned. Everyone was fed, packed and ready to go. About 10 minutes from our destination, we heard some strange noises from Olivia in the backseat--burping. And then a bewildered look followed shortly buy the entire contents of her stomach...all over herself, her car seat and the only outfit I had packed for her.
At the time, I wasn't upset. There is nothing she could do about it--we were in stop and go traffic and she was tired...she probably got car sick--something I was plagued with A LOT as a child. Awful feeling.
So got her cleaned up and in whatever I had in her diaper bag for her to wear and went home. She was upset at first but once she realized that I was going to ride in the back with her, she started asking for "fishies" and her bottle. And was laughing and acting like her usual self...
She napped for 2 hours when we got home...and we decided to visit a local garden (Pratt Gardens) to see if we could create our garden picture experience a little closer to home.
It turned out to be the best idea ever. Not only was it a better time, we captured some great moments, had a great time and only had to drive 5 minutes to get there.
And I was again reminded that sometimes, as much as we plan, things will work out the way they're supposed to...
On a diet related note, I was absolutely stunned by how I looked in these pictures. It was like seeing an old familiar face. It's been a long time since I've looked at a picture and thought "Hey, that's me!!"
In the past it's been "Oh My GOSH, is that me? I look like that? Maybe it was the angle?" and then I'd walk away discouraged. Last night, when reviewing the pictures I thought "What? That's me! I look better than I thought!! Cool!!!"
Here are some of my favorites.
