Exercise? I thought you said Extra Fries?

Hahaha, I recently saw this and it makes me laugh. So it inspired the title of today's post.

In my previous posts I mentioned that I've been running on the treadmill A LOT.  I started the day after Thanksgiving and haven't stopped.  I hate running.  And that's why I do it.

To motivate myself, I take a picture every time I run, right before I start.  I post it on Facebook. I feel like it's a way of keeping track of progress and maybe motivating someone along the way. Some runs are at 3pm on a weekend and many are at 6, 8 or 10pm.

This week, I started something new. I have wanted to start working out at work at our fitness facility called CHAMP. This allows me to workout before I leave and get home not too much later than usual with my workout behind me. I spoke to the manager at the gym a few weeks ago, told her my goals, and she put together a strength training routine for me.  I had a chance to go down to see her this week and she walked me through it so I could get started.

On Monday, I learned the routine and ran at home.  On Tuesday and Wednesday, I ran at CHAMP.  On Thursday I went down to do my strength training...

There was a class going on in the room where I warm up.  HIIT.

One of the participants and the instructor encouraged me to join in on their last circuit as my warm up.  We did step up/overs, rope slams?, kettle bell swings, Russian twists, push ups and a squat into a toss of medicine ball.

IT.WAS.AWESOME.

Then I did my strength training--total body.

I found out that I have absolutely not hamstring strength.  Like, none.  How do I even walk?  How do I stand?  I wonder if this is related to my back issues?  Why has this not come up before?  I'm so motivated to have hammies!!

And I am so excited to continue this routine.  This week I'm hoping for the following:

Saturday: Run
Sunday: Run or off
Monday: Strength Training
Tuesday: Run or Spin class
Wednesday: Strength and Run
Thursday: HIIT
Friday: Run or Off

On and, as of this morning, I'm 1.3lbs from my first Retrofit goal!!!!!

I'm hoping to hit goal this weekend.  Fingers crossed.  Then I start my next goal!!  More later.
