Establishing Goals

When I started Ideal Protein (the protocol I followed last time and the reason why I learned that low carb works for me), I was almost 15lbs heavier than I am now and my baby was already 14 months old.  I had been working out and dieting for 8 months and hadn't lost anything.  Within my first 3 weeks of low carb, I was down 13lbs.

At that point, I established some goals for myself.  I didn't do it right away because I was skeptical that following a low carb diet was going to be the answer to my struggle with losing weight.  As the weight fell off, I knew I had found my answer.

So this time, I'm setting some short term and long term goals.  I know that life gets in the way sometimes and last time I actually started to find myself afraid of food, which made things really stressful at times.  I don't want to feel crazy again, hence the goals.  Short term goals are a way to get to long term goals.

I figured I would share my goals with you:

Short Term

  • Lose 20lbs (total) by end of August
  • Meet/break 7500 steps a day 5 out of 7 days a week
  • Start Couch to 5k by July 15th (if ankle is healed)
  • Write 2-3 blog posts per week
  • Try ChefV 3 day cleanse before the voucher I bought expires
  • Show improved cholesterol totals at July Health check at work (was 235 in March)
  • Improve Vitamin D (very low at 17 in March)
  • Take time for myself (this is very very hard for me to do)
  • Make time for friendships (this might be just as hard)

Long Term
  • Lose 35-40lbs (total) by one year post baby (November 2016)
  • Meet 7500 steps every day and work toward 10000 steps 4 out of 7 days a week
  • Run Woodstown Fall Festival 5k in under 36 minutes (September 2016)
  • Cholesterol < 200
  • Vitamin D > 30
  • Be a better mom--more energy, more patience
  • Encourage and inspire others
  • Take a vacation with my husband and RELAX!

So those are my goals ONE week into this journey.

What goals do you have?
