Venturing Out

I'm going to start off by saying that I'm frustrated because I again didn't lose any weight on the scale here...however, I did take something to help with some plumbing issues and after that there was a loss...but I am not counting it!!  I think I lost another inch in my waist though so all is not lost!   I have been sticking to the diet 99.9999%.

I didn't say 100% because I did have a teeny tiny bite of a Girl Scout cookie and I did have dressing that had red wine vinegar in it--a small amount but still...and I had 1 and half restricted foods the other day but that was unintentional!

So I have tested myself outside of the house twice in the last few days.  Both times I opted for a salad with chicken.  Today we went to a fantastic place called Gyro King.  I wanted to get a gyro or the shish chicken shawarma that my husband was getting...with the hummus and the pita and the rice.  I tried a piece of his chicken and it was fantastic.  It smelled so good.   I held up the piece on my fork to my nose...in inhaled.  It was so aromatic and there were so many layers to the flavor...and I wondered if, before the diet, I would have appreciated that.  I mean, yes, I love to cook and I love flavors but I wonder if I am noticing these things more as I am cleansing my palate with this diet.

It has been very easy to stay on the diet.  I think the hardest part was the first few days--not knowing what to eat or what I liked to eat and feeling really crappy.  And then I got a bad upper respiratory infection so that didn't help things and now that I'm starting to feel better and I've taken a week to get used to things, I am really enjoying this.  The weight loss helps.  I just hope it continues.  I'm not looking for another 8lb week but I am enjoying feeling and seeing a difference.

I spent yesterday looking up recipes on Pinterest and found a lot of success stories on there too--which I wonder why I hadn't thought of before!  It is an excellent resource!

I am also finding a lot of Paleo recipes on the IP diet, which is interesting because before starting IP was looking into Paleo and had thought that when I finished this diet I would switch to Paleo.

And speaking of...I had rice last night...shrimp stir fry with RICE.  Ok, fine.  Cauliflower rice.  It was outstanding.  Even my husband thought so and he is not on the diet!

So here's to another successful work week.  A short one since today was a holiday.

I'll leave with a random thought I had in the car tonight...

If I lose an average of 3lbs/week and I do this for 20 weeks, that's 60lbs.  Before my birthday.

I think if I lose 60lbs by my birthday, I should be entitled to a vacation involving a bathing suit or something.
